This summary outlines changes to inspection practice. This does not include corrections or changes made to improve clarity in how the framework is written.

We reviewed and redrafted the evaluation criteria. This update did not change the scope or methodology of these JTAIs or the inspectorates’ evaluation of effective multi-agency working. The update removed duplication in the criteria and re-organised them to make it easier for inspectors and local partnerships to apply when evaluating the multi-agency response to children and families at the ‘front door’.

References to the ‘chair of the MASA’ added throughout the framework to reflect recent changes to statutory guidance: working together to safeguard children.
Paragraphs 3 and 20: clarification that inspectors will take appropriate action to comply with duties under the Equality Act 2010 .Â
Paragraphs 19 and 62: added guidance on deferring and pausing inspections.
Paragraphs 20, 51 and 88: added guidance about inspector conduct.
