Details

The Personalisation Pathfinder trialled additional employment-focused support for Employment And Support Allowance (ESA) and Jobseeker鈥檚 Allowance (JSA) claimants with health conditions and disabilities. The trial was launched in spring 2015 as part of a wider package of ESA reforms.

The additional support included:

  • help from specialist health and disability coaches
  • Journey to Employment peer support job clubs, delivered by external providers
  • specialist partnership managers, whose role was to improve links between jobcentres and local specialist provision

This evaluation helps us understand:

  • the experience of claimants and staff participating in the trial
  • whether, and how, claimants perceived the additional support
  • the effects of the trial on claimants鈥� confidence, motivation, attitudes to work, wellbeing and job search
  • how claimants, staff and providers perceived the Journey to Employment peer support job clubs
  • the role of specialist partnership managers

This research and analysis supports the Department for Work and Pensions鈥� strategic objectives of:

  • increasing the number of disabled people in employment
  • tailoring support in a more integrated and personalised manner
