This standard rules permit allows you to operate a waste treatment facility to produce soil, soil substitutes and aggregate.

You can apply for this standard rules permit if:听

  • your activity meets the rules set out in the permit听

  • you can manage the potential risks as set out in the generic risk assessment听

The charges for applying for this standard rules permit are:听

  • 拢2,641 for a new standard rules permit application听

  • 拢792 for a minor variation to the permit听

  • 拢2,529 to transfer the permit听

  • 拢1,585 to surrender the permit听

There is also an annual subsistence charge of 拢2,875 for the standard rules permit.听

If you cannot comply with the new standard rules permit you will need to apply to vary your permit into a bespoke permit. You must usually apply within 3 months of the date the standard rules was published (18 December 2024). We have extended this to 27 June 2025.听Extension to comply with new standard rules permits RPS 331.

  1. Clarified that the tonnage limits apply to the waste tables in the introduction. Table 2.1 and condition 2.3.5 have been amended to make it clear that the 75,000 tonnes limit for Table 2.3b, does not include soil and stones waste code 17 05 04. Table 2.3b has had the following waste codes included 02 01 01 soil from cleaning and washing vegetables, 02 03 01 soil from cleaning and washing vegetables and 02 04 01 soil from cleaning and washing beet. These waste codes were missing from the original published version. The heading for Table 2.3c has been changed to make it clear that it lists wastes which are subject to further limits. A link to the RPS that has extended the deadline for complying or applying for a permit for existing permit holders has been added.
