Details

  • The total quantity of landings by UK vessels (tonnes) decreased in November 2021 compared to both 2019 and 2020, down 10 per cent compared to both years. However, the value (拢000鈥檚) of landings in November 2021 decreased compared to the same period in 2019 but increased compared to 2020, down 19 per cent and up 1 per cent respectively.
  • The cumulative landings from January to November 2021 showed a increase of 2 per cent from the same period in both 2019 and 2020.
  • Landings in November 2021 consist mainly of pelagic species (around 66 per cent of landings) which typically fetch a lower price than demersal and shellfish species. This is driven by increased uptake of Mackerel 鈥� a key pelagic species 鈥� as November usually is a peak month for fishing pressure and therefore landings on this species.
